THE Maesydre Playing Fields at Welshpool will be the venue for a Big Picnic afternoon filled with live music and events this Sunday, June 17, from 2pm.

The family event will feature Cathy Beech and members of the Angel Voice Singing School, Hafren Rising Stars students plus The Vertigo Band and Welshpool’s new Angel Bella Llais Choir.

This brand new event has been organised by Cathy Beech and her fundraising committee for Powis Angel Voice School, in association with raising awareness of mental health through Pont Hafren Association Welshpool and Newtown Branch.

The Tasty Cake Studio will be providing afternoon teas and refreshments throughout the day, but everyone is welcome to bring their own picnic.

TICKETS are available from Welshpool Tourist Information office for the fifth annual Pig Fest taking place at Trewern on Saturday, June 23.

The afternoon of music and munching will feature Nikki Rous, Vojta, Two Blank Pages, Over The Hillbillies, Two faced Ton and the Bootleg Boys, and Monterey Jack and the Malcontents.

The festival is on aid of Diabetes UK and admission is by ticket only costing £10, or £15 for one adults and up to three children, or £25 for two adults and up to three children.

SATURDAY, August 18, has been announced as the date for the Welshpool Music Festival events to go ahead after flooding problems forced cancellation of the festival pub sessions on the Spring bank holiday Sunday.
