KNIGHTS of the Round Table, who dance when they are able, hit the stage with King Arthur and his misfit knights, dancing nuns, ferocious Frenchmen and killer rabbits, all making up Monty Python’s 'Spamalot' in a brand new touring professional production coming to Shrewsbury next week.

Funnier than the black death, Selladoor Productions and Mercury Theatre Colchester production of the Tony Award winning musical based on the film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', will be at Theatre Severn with performances taking place at 7.30pm from Tuesday to Saturday, May 15 to 19.

There are also matinee shows at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Saturday.

A riotous comedy follows King Arthur as he travels with his hapless Knights of the Round Table on a divine mission to locate the illusive Holy Grail – with uproarious consequences.

A hit on Broadway and in the West End, the stage adaptation was written by Monty Python legend Eric Idle. The Shrewsbury shows are part of a nine month long UK tour.

Theatre Severn’s marketing officer Beki Poole said: “After the success the 'Evita' shows there in April, we are very excited to be bringing yet another West End hit musical. Spamalot will be the third large scale musical the venue has staged this year and we look forward to welcoming another professional production for audiences to enjoy”

With comic tunes including 'Brave Sir Robin', 'We’re Knights of the Round Table' and perennial favourite 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life', 'Spamalot' audiences are sure to be dancing down the aisles.

Tickets for 'Spamalot 'at Theatre Severn are on sale now, prices from £40.50 to £20,50 depending on the day and time of show and can be booked online at theatresevern.co.uk, or by telephone 01743 281281, and from the venue box office.
