RUSSIAN emigre concert virtuoso pianist Andrey Chulovsky will premiere a new work of his own at Gregynog Hall, near Newtown, this Sunday afternoon, April 29.

Andrey has made his home at Kerry for several years and he is the organist at St Mary’s Church, Welshpool.

He will conclude Sunday’s concert with two of his own compositions with the premiere of his musical sketch ‘Merry Old England’ followed by his sonata ‘The Bell’ composed for the birth of famous piano professor Nathan Perelman and published in Birmingham in 2006.

The recital, which starts at 3pm, will open with Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Serenade’ and the first half will also feature two ‘Hungarian Dances’ by Brahms, ‘Serenade’ by Schubert/Liszt, two preludes by Rachmaninov, and Chopin’s ‘Polonaise’.

The second part will have Lyadov’s funny miniature ‘Dance of Mosquito’, ‘Nightingale’ by Alyabiev/Liszt; and Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Flight of Bumblebee’ in a piano arrangement by Rachmaninov, before ending with Chulovsky’s own works.
