A RETIREMENT home for actors becomes the setting for murder in the next Newtown Amateur Dramatic Society (ADS) production.

‘Murder On Cue’ opens on Monday night, May 21.

Written by Robin Jennifer Miller, and directed by Jan Fursier, the play can also be seen at 7.45pm each night through to Saturday, May 26, at the Powys Theatre, on Canal Road.

The retirement home is such a pretty place in the snow and with a house full of actors there are bound to be divas among them and naturally tempers will fly. But who could think it would end in murder?

Paul Martin, Pam Edwards, Mary Turner, Gillian Thorp, David Morgan, Lesley Crowther, Heather Hughes, Brian Davis and Karen McMurdo, make up the cast.

Operating out of its delightful little theatre in the centre of Newtown, the ADS works hard to maintain the wonder of traditional theatre, with its red plush seats and marvellous staging.

It provides opportunities for the staging of new plays and also now has a flourishing youth section.

New members are always welcome and not just on stage. You may have an interest or skill which can be turned into helping build sets, organise costumes, help with the technical side, or deal with administration, all of which are also involved in putting on a successful production.

Whether a murder mystery, comedy, a classic or a new offering out of the expected mould, the company is adept at giving its audiences something to think about.

“The company is like an extended family, and you’d be a valued member,” they say.

Tickets for the new show are £8, or £7 concessions, or £5 for Theatre Friends, available from the Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, or on 01686 623463 or 07767 360372.
