A SEVEN-and-a-half year old Chihuahua from Meifod has won second place at Crufts.

Trefnanney Prudence, also known by her pet name ‘Pru’, won silver in the Veteran Bitch category against 14 long coat Chihuahuas aged seven years or more.

Owner Sharon Hughes from Meifod took along her prized pooch to the world famous dog show at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.

Mrs Hughes said: “I’m thrilled to bits. There was a very high standard.

“She was an absolute professional and she did me proud.

“She does like to strut her stuff!”

Pru is a regular at championship dog shows across the country and qualified for this year’s Crufts by winning one of the top three prizes in her category.

The silver from Crufts gives Pru and Mrs Hughes automatic qualification into next year’s competition.

From Siberian Huskies to Poodles, 45 dogs from across Powys were on show at Crufts.

More than 22,000 dogs competed at this year’s show for the world famous title of Crufts Best in Show Champion.
