AFTER the defeat in Russia in the last few minutes of the match we arrived back in Cardiff late on Thursday.
I had to get a flight back to Toronto on Friday lunchtime in order to be back in time for our clash against Colombus Crew at our home BMO Field. Having arrived back I got indoors at about 9pm on friday which was not great preperation for the game ahead.

After speaking with the manager on Saturday morning, I wanted to play and said that I was ready as this had become our most important game of the season.

Colombus arrived at our place with the best record in the MLS, with 43 points, and were in terrific form, so we knew we d have a difficult game, but a game which would show us how far we've come this year.

BMO was packed out as usual and it was raining heavily, just like it had in Moscow three days earlier. We started very well in the game, and after six minutes Amado Guevara rolled a free kick to me and from about 25 yards I managed to bend one into the top corner over the keeper.

This was my first goal of the season, and although it had been a long time coming, it was well worth the wait.

My celebration was me jumping into the air with my arms going round like a windmill....this was because my little girl is in dance school and I said that I'd do it for her.(mind you i ve been taking some stick on youtube about it, and from the boys!).

We were in control of the game but knew there was a long way still to go. The next 20 minutes were fairly even but then penalty..... they won a penalty when Marvell Wynne pulled down their left winger Robbie Rogers. Up stepped Moreno but our keeper Sutts saved it down to his left, a great stop from a top keeper.

We had a let off but they had started taking the game to us, and five minutes later they equalised with a long range effort to level the scores. At half time we just said that we needed to keep the same effort and tempo up and could go on and get a result.

There was not many chances but we had the best two which nearly got us the winner but it ended 1-1 after this tense affair.

We were disappointed that we could not win the game but happy that we took a point out of the game against a very good Colombus team.

Again we had shown that we can compete with the best team in the MLS, but we need to be more consistent over the season. We now go into our last six matches looking at maybe13 or 14 points to get into play off contention. Kansas City will be our next game, with them being in the same position as us, needing to win, but desperate not to get beaten. A big match lies ahead.

Training has been intense this week, but after all the travelling that I've been doing I was able to get a few days off to rest my body and try and get some sleep.

Modern technology these days is such a big help as I've been speaking to the missus and kids via Skype everyday as they are still in Wales. I find it pretty tough sometimes when coming home after training and my family not being there, but we'll all be together in a month or so, so that's what keeps my spirits up.

I bumped into a couple of fans earlier in the week and got asked what's the difference between football here and back in Europe.

Well there are good players over here as back home, but the mentality is different back home, and football is always in the public eye, good or bad. Either way, football is about winning and results, no matter where you play.

Secondly I got asked how long am I going to carry on playing for Wales....well I'll look at it at the end of the season, as the amount of travelling that I've done this year is unbelievable. Plus with a young family its always hard being away for so long.

Finally, congratulations to my pal Greg Sutton and his wife for the birth of their first child, Mya.
