Victory in the Giants' stadium keeps play-off dream alive... by Carl Robinson

WE FACED make or break time as we prepared for our away match in New York against the Red Bulls.
With four games left, and three being away we faced a difficult task of trying to get into the play offs, especially as our away form has been poor this year.
We travelled on the Friday, but were faced with delays at the airport, something which is quite common when playing in the MLS. When we arrived, we were too late to train so we had to train on the Saturday morning, before the match in the evening.
The game was at the New York Giants' NFL stadium, and I've never seen so many lines on a football pitch. We had played earlier in the season and lost so we knew we owed ourselves, our manager and our fans a performance on the road. What made it even more exciting was that New York were six points ahead of us, so they knew if they beat us they would be almost in the play offs.
The match kicked off at a great pace and a few naughty challenges were going in. After 15 minutes Juan Pablo Angel tried to stamp on Amado Guevara, a totally shocking challenge, but escaped with a yellow card. This decision could have changed the game, but all the same 20 minutes in our striker Chad Barrett latched on to a poor back header to lob the keeper and give us the lead.
Half time arrived and we were in total control of the game, but 10 minutes into the second period we conceded a bad goal. A through ball split our defenders and their wide man ran onto it to net the equaliser. We now faced a difficult game, after being in control for long periods. After breaking up play, we counter-attacked and Marvell Wynne our right back ran the length of the pitch to square the ball to Barrett to roll in his second goal.
We had our noses in front, and our small army of fans could be heard in the massive Giants stadium. We were on a roll, playing with confidence, and dominating the game, but knew we needed another goal.
Finally it came when our sub, Ibby Ibrahim headed in the third with 10 minutes left. We were 3-1 ahead away from home, a great position, and managed see it through. We are still alive in the hunt for the play offs. The changing room was buzzing but we still have some hard work left.
The only down side of next weeks game is that we have four starters missing when we travel to Dallas. The international debate comes up again and I really do think that something should be done.
I will be away this week as I'm with Wales hoping that we can get two positive results in our World Cup campaign. And what might make it even more special is that I might get to win my 50th cap.
I still can't believe that I might make this great achievement come true. What would top it off would be to win the match and get my cap.
