WELL, after the excellent win at home to Kansas City Wizards we had a quick turn around and another home game against the New York Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls have some top players in their team, including the experienced Claudio Reyna and Juan Pablo Angel and the new up-and-coming big thing from the United States, Jozy Altidore.

The lad is 20 years of age and already been subject of a bid by Spanish giants Real Madrid. Definitely one for the future.

The game was fairly even in front of a packed-out rain-sodden BMO Field, until we managed to score from an excellent set piece. But within 10 minutes we had conceded a set-piece goal to make it all square at half time. You really can't underestimate the importance of set pieces in the modern game, and this showed exactly why.

The second half was again very even and after a few half chances the game ended a draw. It was a good game between two good teams, and I think we cancelled each other out on the night.

After playing three games in a week, we now enter a two week break to recuperate and rest before playing another four games in eight days.

Coming up on the horizon too is the start of the Canada Cup, a three-team tournament involving Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Something very special is looming here, with supporters already talking about this.

It will be great to see an all-English Champions League final between Man Utd and Chelsea in Moscow, with the winner hard to call.

I wonder if someone will win the double or will the two trophies be split between the big two this year?.

All football seems to go down to the last week this season which surely makes it the most exciting for years. With the Premier League going this week to the final game, the question I ask is who do you think that Steve Bruce would want to win the league? A team he played for many years or Chelsea.....I'll leave that one to you.

In the Championship, Stoke secured second place but the play off slots went right down to the wire.

I'm devastated too see Wolves miss out by one goal, and my old manager Mick McCarthy get so close to making play-offs again. There really are some big teams in the division, as was shown when Leicester were relegated after Southampton won to survive, as did Coventry. I've got a funny feeling that another of my old managers, Neil Warnock will get through the play-offs and take Crystal Palace up.

Notts Forest also sneaked through the back door into the Championship by winning on the last day and Doncaster losing.

Every division had some ups and downs and to go down to the wire was great for some but heartbreaking for others too. The ups and downs of football in 90 minutes.

Just watch now as you see the turn around of players moving and also managers changing jobs as clubs seek new directions for next year. This is where the agents earn their money, as players go on holiday, they try and move their player.

On the personal front I'm looking forward to the two international matches coming up against Iceland and Netherlands at the end of May.

Both should be pretty stern tests for us but good games to play in.

And finally, I'm looking forward to watching cardiff in the FA Cup Final at Wembley later this month.

Hi Carl, any comments about the officiating in the match v Columbus? Do you think Carver's threat to quit has any weight to it?
