WELL after the season got underway last week in Columbus we faced a difficult trip to play DC United in the RK Stadium.
Now DC are a well renowned franchise team that has been successful for a number of years and have won the eastern division three times in the last five years.

A tough game lay ahead, but a very exciting game, as when you're a player you want to play against the best teams, and DC are definitely one of them in the mls.

So if games can get off to the worst possible start, then this was it.
Within the first six minutes we were down to 10 men through a red card for a late tackle from Kevin Harmse and two goals down..... it couldn't get any worse could it? We then managed to calm the game right down and get a grip on it and created a number of chances, but failed to convert any before half time.

We started the second half knowing that the 2-0 scoreline is the worst in football. Games can go either way, a third goal kills it right off but conceding one opens it up again, and then leads to nervousness setting in.

Again six minutes into the second peroid we were 3 -0 down, after another bad goal, the game finished 4-1 to DC. We will be working hard this week in training to try stop conceding silly goals.

You always tend to learn more after a defeat, as sometimes winning games papers over cracks in the team, but you observe everything in defeat.

The top managers don't get carried away while winning and always aim for perfection even when winning.

So our next game should be a little easier......LA Galaxy away, and Mr Beckham!. LA have lost two games and won one so it looks like an excellent game on paper.

It'll be good to play against David as you want to play against top players, and he certainly is still that.

Opinions vary on him now but in the football world he is still one of the best around, and also a total gentleman off the field too, which is credit to him as well.

With everything that has happened in his life he has still managed to keep his feet on the ground, and that's after marrying a pop star too......

I must say congratulations to Cardiff City in reaching the FA Cup final, an unbelievable feat, and credit must go to all the players.

It was good to see Joe Ledley score the winner which sends them to Wembley. Now they must try and kick on in the league to sneak into the play offs. It was tough to take also to see Swansea concede two goals in the last minute against Bournemouth as promotion is so close for them. Hopefully they will wrap it up in next week anyway.

Great times for Welsh football, infact for all Welsh sport after the rugby grand slam and I really hope that Joe Calazghe now goes onto win on Saturday, April 19, against Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas.

Trying to say that Joe is going to win to the Americans over there is tough, as they think their man is one of the best ever...... I just say we'll see and let Joe do the talking come fight time!!!
