AFTER our tough game against Colombus Crew at our BMO Field we waited while all the other results came in over the weekend.
We had picked up a very good point and other results went our way so we clawed back on some other teams with six games remaining.

We now went into our next match against the Kansas City Wizards at their new ground – actually a baseball ground – with lots at stake as they were in a similar position as us, hovering on the play off picture. All week we had worked on trying to get our attacking play going at all times, and breaking when possible.

We were ready, we knew what was at stake, a win puts us right back into it, a defeat would leave an uphill task. We arrived in Kansas and relaxed before the game knowing this was a game which had a little bit of pressure on, a need for a win but a great game to play in. I tell the young boys here, that every game you play has pressure on it, and if they want to play at the top level then the pressure rises.

Big games are where big players come out, such as Stevie Gerrard. Whenever Liverpool usually need a goal, one man usually delivers, and that is Stevie G!!!

And so to the game. It started very tense and slow, both teams knew there was a lot at stake. Both teams played direct but without any real threat. If I was to say the first half was not great, I would not be lying. 0-0 at half time was good as our away form has been poor this year, we said we now need to kick on, step up that extra gear and get that goal that would set us on our way.

Unfortunately we huffed and puffed without threatening. We conceded a penalty after 60 minutes which they scored, and after catching us on the break again, we gave up an own goal to seal their victory.

We had been beaten by 2 - 0, a big disappointment for us all. What made it worse was that our attacking threat was not there, and we rarely threatened. As this was a must win game, it was a real blow for us. We have not scored more than one goal in a match for over two months, and while this is worrying, it increases pressure on the defence to keep a clean sheet. This defeat now leaves us an uphill task, but with five games left we are still not out of it.

We face a massive match against Houston Dynamo at home this weekend.

Off the field this week I've had to do a coaching session with kids, for a sponsorship deal I have. I really do enjoy coaching, and pick up things and learn every day from the coaches here.

I can see myself one day going into management and when this happens I want to be ready to handle all situations that arise.

I will continue getting my coaching badges this winter when the season ends. Also we did our visit of the Toronto sick kids hospital.

This is always a hard one, as you get to see people less fortunate than yourselves and puts another view into life. We visited the bone marrow ward, and to see the strength of some of the kids was unbelievable. They are so happy, and we talked about soccer and hobbies, while signing cards for them all. These visits are so important and I think we are going again before christmas to take gifts.

Afterwards I went home to watch the Cardiff v Swansea match. What a cracker, it had everything, a goal, bookings, a sending off, disallowed goals... a typical derby match.

I tried telling the lads here that this is such a massive game, and gives bragging rights till the next match is played.

I have to say I thought Swansea deserved the victory, after playing the best football, but the next match will be a totally different affair. I had to laugh at seeing John Hartson jumping up and down at the end of the match, mind you, Harts is a Jack through and through.

Sadly there was the fighting at the end, no matter how many police are there, you just knew trouble would occur...
