Honduran magic sees off the Wizards... by Carl Robinson

AFTER two excellent wins away at LA Galaxy and at home to Real Salt Lake we tried to make it three wins on the trot against Kansas City Wizards.
We had worked all week leading up to the game on forcing play into wide areas and not letting Claudio Lopez be able to find space in between the back four and midfield four.

Lopez is Kansas City's designated player having joined this season, primarily as Eddie Johnson has left to join Fulham and is trying to help them stay up in the premiership. Kansas City sat top of the Eastern Conference after four games with three wins and a draw. A tough game lay ahead.

In front of another fantastic sell-out crowd of 21,000 fans the game started at a quick pace. We were able to create three good chances but still not able to finish one off, as Kansas were limited to just one long-range shot in the first period.

After last week against Real Salt Lake, where we played well first half but not so good second half, it was important that we continued to play at a high tempo in the second half of this game.

You look at turning points in games and after a quick deflection off a Kansas defender we took the lead after Amaudo Guevara, a Honduran international, scored his first goal.

Within 20 minutes we had gone two goals up as Amaudo scored a wonderful long range free kick to put us in total control. We saw the game out and could of won it by four goals in the end against a very good side who lead the conference.

This result shows how far we have come along in a short space of time, and although happy with the win, it's important not to get carried away as it's still early in the season and the important thing is consistency, which we did not have last year.

We don't have much time to have a rest as we play New York Red Bulls at home on Thursday, as Mr Reyna and Juan Pablo Angel come to town.

At present Houston Dynamo bring up the rear in our conference and this shows how tight and close the league is as they have won the MLS title two years on the trot, and I'll bet you now that they will be close to the top come the end of the year.

What a prospect to have an all English champions league final in Moscow, you would never of thought that at the start of the year.

A Man Utd v Chelsea final, should be an excellent advert for English football.(especially after seeing Man Utd v Chelsea in the premiership, which was a fantastic game of football).

Two games to go in the premier and level on points, I still think that Man Utd will win the title, maybe on goal difference. To gown down I predict Derby, Fulham and I have a sneaky feeling Reading will be joining them too. Now they say that the Championship has never been so exciting well it will all be settled on the last day – at both ends for promotion and relegation as well as the fight for play off places.

How exciting is this week going to be?.....There will be some nervous players as well as fans over the weekend. Good luck to all involved. This is where players make their names and become heroes.......

No surprise to see that Cristiano Ronaldo won player of the year for the second year running and Cesc Fabregas won the young player.

This really is a great honour from your fellow pros and a fully deserved award for him.

Finally, I hope that Wrexham sort out their plight and work on re building to try and get back into the football league.

They are too good a club not to be playing in the football league but it just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed in football..

Great stuff Carl.

I look forward to your next chapter.

I'd like to hear more about how you and your teammates are fitting into a society, that despite the 21,000 fans, views football as a foreign language.
