Canada Cup bid still on, and I'm buried alive... by Carl Robinson

AFTER last week's defeat at New England, who are the current leaders in the MLS, and our surprising defeat to Vancouver in the Canadian Cup, we had a international friendly against Chivas of Mexico, who are the current Concacaf champions.
As we have a very busy schedule coming up the manager decided to rest a few of the boys that have been involved in most of the games, so I was able to put my feet up for the weekend, and get some rest.
A chance to spend some quality time with the family. We decided to go up north to where a man-made beach was, so I could relax and let the family have a swim etc. Now having travelled two hours to the beach we managed to only stay in the sun for about four hours as the weather topped nearly 33 degrees.
It was unbelievable heat, but the kids loved it, although I was not too amused when my daughter Lowri wanted to bury me in the sand from head to toe, and after my missus kept telling me to stop being boring and let her do it, I finally agreed but couldn't stop itching and scratching after...clearly a bad decision..
I also took my little boy into the water for the first time, Milo is now four months old, and he was loving getting in the water until a wave nearly went over his head, and then he was not too amused.
It was quality time with my family, and something which I never got to do in the UK, only when the season was over. Our second day away we spent having a picnic and visiting a farm.
Now kids love animals and mine never stopped smiling all afternoon as they got to feed them and hold them. A great little break for us all, before I drove back to watch the Toronto v Pachuca match.
Now this match gave our younger players a chance to impress and a few certainly did themselves no harm at all. The game ended 1-1 in front of 18,000 fans, which was a really great turnout for a friendly.
After the weekend break we prepared for our second match against Vancouver away from home. This was our biggest match of the season so far, as if we lost then we would not win the Canada Cup.
A draw or a win would leave us with a chance to win it going into our last match against Montreal on July 22nd at home.
It also gave us a chance to put right our performance from the last game as we under performed as a team and lost the game.
Now this game was totally different and from the first whistle we dominated possession but could not take our chances.
Five minutes before half time we conceded on a break away, which was unfair as we had played well up to that point. At half time we said that we would now find out about people's character and how much did they want to win this game. Let's not forget that this is and was a massive match to us, a local derby, and bragging rights in Canada.
This was a must win game. We started the second half again very well and scored from a well taken Mo Edu goal and then Rohan Ricketts gave us a deserved lead with just 10 minutes to go.
Unfortunately we gave up a bad goal with three minutes left and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Now this result leaves us with a chance to win the Canada Cup if we beat Montreal in a few weeks. Anything but a win, and we don't. A great game lies ahead.
We are flying direct to Chicago from Vancouver for our next MLS match on Saturday, which should be another big game.
The weather is now reaching unbelievable temperatures of up to 37 degrees, this is tough to train in – although it gives you a good tan.
At the moment I'm training in the mornings and taking the family out in the afternoon to different places.
My little girl starts summer camp this week too, which allows parents to still go to work and the kids to have fun, rather than being at home all day through out the holidays.
I have also planned for the end of the month a visit to watch Coldplay play at the Air Canada Centre. A great band playing in a great city.... and I am able to watch – what more would you want?
A few more wins between now and then would be very nice.
